These are some places in the city that will be important for you to know!

THE CHURCH OF THE FIVE HOLY MOTHERS
Located on a hill in the exact center of the city, this is where all political and religious discourse takes place. The 12 voices meet here, and the Speaker spends most of her time here. It is the home of the Five Holy Mothers, and is considered to be the holiest spot in the city, if not the entire world.

THE PATRON’S HANDS
Every day, giant winged beetles called Belusi bring newborn children to an orphanage-like place called the Patron’s Hands. Most of the children are little girls, and all of them are sent to the city by the Patron herself to help boost the population (as relatively few people have children). They are of all races, and can be adopted by any single woman or couple in a Middle Union. Single men cannot adopt children from the Patron’s hands.

THE ACADEMY OF THE HIGHEST
Whenever a young woman of any race begins to show an inclination towards magic use, she is immediately sent to the Academy for several years of intensive training (that is, if she or her family can afford it). The Academy is essentially a boarding school, and is considered the best way to get an education in magic. Graduates of the Academy go on to do great things for the city.

THE PERCHES
Atop each wall, there’s a fort called a Perch where the Raptoran guarding the city live and store weapons. It’s difficult to get up there if you’re not a Raptoran, but each one is absolutely stockpiled in case of an emergency.

THE AGNUSSIAN ARCHIVES
The Archives, located within the first Ring of the city, are essentially a gigantic library in which records dating to the earliest days of Agnusse-Diah’s history can be found. Most of these records are strictly off-limits to the public because of their historical value, but visitors can find Agnussian works of literature, scientific studies, and biographies of prominent Agnussian citizens available for them to read there.

THE TREATS
Not exactly a place, but still important. TREATS stands for Trans-Ring Elevated and Accelerated Transportation System, and is essentially an elevated monorail that travels between the rings through specially designated gates in the city’s walls. Riding the TREATS can be somewhat expensive for the lower classes of Agnusse-Diah, but even the poorest of Agnussians save up enough to ride the TREATS into the wealthier rings at least once or twice a year.
